Emsella Therapy

The Emsella chair is a breakthrough, non-invasive, evidence-based technology designed to strengthen the pelvic floor and improve a range of pelvic health concerns.

At Olika, we offer Emsella as part of a holistic approach to a range of conditions, including bladder control, pelvic stability, postnatal recovery and sexual wellbeing post-prostatectomy.

The treatment provides intense, targeted pelvic floor stimulation without discomfort, undressing, or downtime, making it an appealing option for women seeking modern support for pelvic health.

How Emsella Works

The Emsella chair uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) technology to create rapid, strong pelvic floor muscle contractions. These contractions are significantly more powerful than voluntary exercises, helping to rebuild muscle tone, improve neuromuscular control, and support the bladder and pelvic organs.

Each 28-minute session can stimulate the equivalent of more than 11,000 Kegel contractions, delivering thousands of contractions while you remain fully clothed and comfortably seated, offering rapid and targeted strengthening of the pelvic floor muscles.

Most treatment plans involve a series of sessions over several weeks, with improvements often noticeable early in the course.

By restoring muscle tone and improving neuromuscular control, Emsella helps support the bladder, urethra, pelvic organs, and sexual function, leading to better urinary control and improved confidence.

Conditions Emsella Can Help With

Emsella is most widely known for improving urinary incontinence, however, its benefits extend to several pelvic floor-related concerns. At Olika, our clinicians ensure that Emsella is used appropriately and safely, tailoring each treatment plan to the individual.

Emsella can assist with stress, urge, and mixed urinary incontinence by strengthening the pelvic floor muscles that support the bladder and urethra. It is suitable for women who leak with coughing, sneezing, laughing, lifting, or exercise, as well as those experiencing sudden urinary urgency.
Women experiencing weakened pelvic floor muscles due to childbirth, menopause, ageing, or chronic strain may benefit from Emsella’s deep muscle activation. Stronger pelvic floor muscles contribute to better bladder control, pelvic stability, and long-term functional support.
Following pregnancy and childbirth, many women struggle to effectively contract their pelvic floor muscles. Emsella can complement or enhance traditional postnatal pelvic floor rehabilitation by providing consistent, targeted activation, helping improve bladder control and early pelvic stability.
Improved pelvic floor strength can positively influence sexual wellbeing. Some women report improved sensation, responsiveness, and confidence during intimacy following an Emsella course. These benefits are secondary effects of strengthened pelvic floor function rather than the primary indication.
Women experiencing early signs of reduced pelvic support, such as mild pelvic heaviness or early descent, may benefit from improved pelvic floor strength. While Emsella does not treat moderate or severe prolapse, stronger muscles can contribute to better overall pelvic support.

Your Treatment Experience at Olika

All Emsella treatments are carried out in a private, comfortable, discreet setting by clinicians experienced in pelvic health medicine. Your GP will develop a personalised plan based on your symptoms and goals. Most patients who use Emsella feel noticeable improvements after several sessions, with results continuing to build across the full course.

Who is Not Suitable for Emsella

Emsella may not be suitable for patients with certain metal implants, pacemakers, or specific medical conditions. Your Olika doctor will assess your medical history carefully to ensure the treatment is safe and appropriate.
